Mr Sreenadh Gella is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb conditions, including the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. He provides a wide range of treatments, from non-surgical options such as injections through to keyhole (arthroscopic) and open surgical procedures.
He has specialist expertise in treating conditions including:
Mr Gella also has extensive experience managing upper limb trauma, including sports-related injuries. Many of his upper limb procedures are performed as day case surgery, allowing patients to return home on the same day where appropriate.
Mr Gella completed his medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate orthopaedic training (MS Orthopaedics) at the University of Health Sciences in India.
After moving to the UK, he completed Basic Surgical Training within the Yorkshire Deanery before achieving his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
He developed a specialist interest in hand and upper limb surgery and went on to complete further fellowship training in sports injuries and upper limb reconstruction at the Pan Am Clinic, University of Manitoba, Canada.
Mr Gella currently works within the NHS at Sandwell General Hospital and City Hospital, with future plans to continue his practice at the Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital.
Through his clinical work, he provides specialist assessment and treatment for a broad range of upper limb conditions, combining modern surgical techniques with a patient-focused approach.
Mr Gella has a strong commitment to education and training. He lectures medical students from Aston University and University of Birmingham.
He has previously taught medical students at the University of Health Sciences in India and the University of Manitoba in Canada.
He is involved in the Regional Specialist Training Programme for Orthopaedics and works as an educational and clinical supervisor for foundation trainees at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Gella has published in medical journals and contributed to instructional course materials. He remains actively involved in research and national orthopaedic projects.
He is passionate about improving patient safety and healthcare systems. As Orthopaedic Lead for Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) prevention at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, he helped develop safety guidelines to reduce the risk of blood clots in musculoskeletal patients.
As Fracture Clinic Lead, he also introduced virtual fracture clinic pathways to improve patient access and streamline care.
Mr Gella believes in a collaborative approach to treatment, working closely with patients and multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best outcomes.
He is committed to empowering patients through clear communication and shared decision-making, ensuring they understand their condition and treatment options. His focus is on delivering safe, effective, and personalised orthopaedic care.
