Dr Soumit Singhai FRCP is a highly respected Consultant Geriatrician with over 16 years of consultant experience and a national reputation as a leading expert in the diagnosis and management of dementia, complex memory disorders, and Parkinson’s disease–related cognitive problems.
Dually accredited in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, Dr Singhai has devoted his career to improving outcomes for patients with memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, and the more complex and often under-recognised dementias such as Lewy Body Dementia. His specialist expertise in Lewy Body Dementia has made him a sought-after opinion nationally and internationally, with many patients under his long-term care. His precise diagnoses and holistic approach have significantly improved the quality of life for numerous patients and families living with this condition.
During his NHS career, Dr Singhai developed a particularly strong expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex dementia presentations, especially those with behavioural and neuropsychiatric complications. At both Homerton University Hospital (2009–2016) and Lister Hospital (2016–2021), he honed this niche, working at the interface of neurology, psychiatry, and geriatrics. These challenging cases—often presenting with hallucinations, agitation, or profound cognitive fluctuations—demanded finely tuned clinical judgement and multidisciplinary collaboration. Dr Singhai established innovative pathways that integrated old age psychiatry, neuropsychology, and specialist nursing, leading to services recognised nationally, including by Parkinson’s UK as examples of best practice.
Patients and families consistently commend Dr Singhai for his clarity, compassion, and empathetic approach. He is widely recognised for balancing scientific precision with humanity, ensuring that patients feel supported at every stage of their journey.
In 2019, Dr Singhai founded the Phoenix Memory Clinic at 25 Harley Street, which rapidly became a well-regarded centre for early dementia and memory assessment. Having built it into a highly trusted service, he has since moved on, and the clinic now operates under different leadership. Today, he continues to see patients across a range of leading private hospitals, including Circle Health, bringing his unique blend of precision, empathy, and specialist expertise to each setting.
Alongside his private practice, Dr Singhai has extensive experience in acute medicine, rehabilitation, and the holistic care of frail older adults. His breadth of expertise enables him to integrate specialist dementia care with broader medical management.
Professionally, Dr Singhai was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2016, recognising his innovation and excellence in clinical practice. He serves as a PACES Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and regularly represents the College on consultant appointment panels. He is also an invited speaker at national and international conferences, particularly on the cognitive and neuropsychiatric aspects of dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
Since 2019, Dr Singhai has also developed a respected medico-legal practice, trusted by leading solicitors and barristers across London and the Home Counties. He provides expert reports in areas such as mental capacity assessments (testamentary capacity, financial decision-making, Court of Protection) and medical reports for immigration cases, particularly those involving dementia, frailty, or Parkinson’s disease. His reports are consistently praised for their clarity, balance, and persuasiveness.
Dr Singhai trained at King’s College London, qualifying in 1995, before completing higher specialist training in North East London. His dual accreditation in Internal and Geriatric Medicine gives him a rare breadth of expertise, bridging acute medical care and long-term neurocognitive management.
Outside medicine, he enjoys reading, hiking, and travelling with his family.
