About Dr Sophie Grabczynska

Personal Profile

Dr Grabczynska works for the NHS as a Consultant Dermatologist at the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (Amersham, Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospitals) where she has a busy clinical practice managing all aspects of skin disease in adults and in children. She was appointed Service Delivery Unit Director for the Dermatology Department in July 2011. She is also the clinical lead for both the Paediatric Dermatology and Phototherapy services in the Department.

 

Sophie Grabczynska graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (University of London) in 1990. Her higher specialist training was undertaken in London teaching hospitals, and at the St John’s Institute of Dermatology, a postgraduate teaching hospital. She gained specialist accreditation and was awarded a place on the Specialist Register in dermatology by the General Medical Council in 2002. She was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2006.

Clinical Interests

Dr Grabczynska is a general dermatologist diagnosing and treating all types of skin complaints including eczema, psoriasis, acne, pigmentary changes, blistering and inflammatory rashes, photosensitivity, skin cancer and skin surgery. Other conditions she can help with include those affecting hair and genital skin in women. Her special interests include children’s skin problems. She is the clinical lead for Paediatric Dermatology and Phototherapy.

Dr Grabczynska regularly lectures at academic courses for other doctors and continues to participate actively in research, having in the past engaged in research on new treatments for vitiligo, basal cell carcinoma, psoriasis and childhood eczema. She has over 20 peer reviewed articles.

The philosophy of her practice is to offer patients modern and up-to-date treatment of their skin problems but with a friendly and personal approach to their care. Many dermatology problems require a fine balance of medical treatments and supportive measures. All aspects of the patient’s health and wellbeing are taken into account in deciding the best management for each individual. Every patient should have management tailored specifically to their requirements ensuring both the best clinical experience and patient satisfaction.
