Ms Silvana Madi is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Princess Alexandra NHS Foundation Trust. Silvana specialises in cornea, cataract, external diseases and refractive surgery. She has over 10 years’ experience in Ophthalmology.
Ms Madi completed two Cornea fellowships; at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and training under the mentorship of Professor Massimo Busin, one of the global leading Corneal surgeons. She completed two years as a fixed term consultant in advanced corneal surgeries, cataract and external diseases in Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Ms Madi has a Master of Science and a PhD in Cornea transplantations, undertaken at Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt with numerous publications and research papers in peer reviewed scientific journals. She also holds a Senior lecturer position at Alexandria University.
As an accredited Visumax Zeiss user, she performs a comprehensive range of laser refractive procedures including SMILE, LASIK and PRK. In addition to the whole spectrum of laser refractive surgery options, she has great expertise and experience in a variety of other refractive procedures including Lens Replacement Surgery, with a variety of multifocal lens implants. She provides refractive solutions to a wide range of patients including presbyopic patients.
Ms Madi has been active throughout her career both in teaching and research, presented at national and international scientific meetings. As a regional training program director in Ophthalmic Training (OPT) in east of England, she oversees training of all allied healthcare professional training in the region.
