About Dr Siao Pei Tan

Personal Profile

Dr Tan is a distinguished Consultant Dermatologist and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom, with an impressive academic and clinical background that reflects her dedication to advancing dermatological care. Her journey in medicine began at The University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where she completed her undergraduate medical degree. During her time there, she also undertook PhD research in the field of eczema, contributing to the understanding of this complex and often debilitating condition. Her research was recognized internationally, earning her the prestigious ORS postgraduate award, as well as a highly competitive PhD scholarship from the University of Edinburgh’s College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

Following her academic training, Dr Tan pursued general medical training in Cambridge and London, gaining broad experience across multiple specialties. She then completed her dermatology specialist training in East Kent in 2020, where she honed her expertise in both general and specialist dermatology. Her commitment to excellence quickly led to her appointment as a substantive NHS Consultant Dermatologist at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, a role she held from 2020 to 2023.

During her tenure in East Kent, Dr Tan was entrusted with leading several specialist services. She served as Lead Consultant for the Specialist Genital Dermatology Clinic, a role that required both clinical expertise and sensitivity in managing complex and often intimate conditions. She also oversaw the Cutaneous Allergy Patch Testing Clinic, helping patients identify and manage allergic skin reactions, and played a pivotal role in the Teledermatology service for skin cancer referrals, ensuring timely and accurate assessments for patients across the region. In addition to these responsibilities, she was appointed Drugs and Therapeutics Lead Consultant for the Dermatology Department, where she guided safe and effective prescribing practices and contributed to departmental governance.

Dr Tan’s career has been marked by recognition at both national and international levels. In 2019, she represented the United Kingdom at Euroderm Excellence, an elite training programme for selected final‑year dermatology residents across Europe. She was also awarded the Postgraduate Allergy Scholarship from Imperial College London, further underscoring her commitment to advancing knowledge in dermatology and allergy. These accolades highlight her ability to combine clinical practice with academic excellence, ensuring that her patients benefit from the latest evidence‑based approaches.

Since 2023, Dr Tan has been working as an independent provider in South East England, where she continues to deliver high‑quality dermatological care. Her practice is characterized by professionalism, compassion, and a patient‑centred approach. She remains deeply committed to improving outcomes for individuals with skin conditions, whether through direct patient care, specialist services, or contributions to the wider dermatology community.

Dr Tan’s career exemplifies a balance of academic achievement, clinical leadership, and patient advocacy. Her extensive training, specialist expertise, and numerous awards reflect not only her skill but also her passion for dermatology. Patients under her care can be assured of receiving treatment that is thorough, evidence‑based, and delivered with genuine consideration for their wellbeing.
