Miss Singh qualified in Medicine at The University of Jammu, India, in 1997. She then completed a Diploma in Ophthalmology at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Ophthalmology, Aligarh, India, in 2000. After moving to the United Kingdom, she undertook Foundation Training with the Northern Deanery, part of Health Education England, from 2007 to 2009.
She began her ophthalmic career in the NHS as a Trust Doctor at County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust in 2009, before progressing to Speciality Doctor level from 2011 to 2018. She was then appointed to Higher Specialist Training in Ophthalmology through the Northern Deanery, completing her training between 2018 and 2023. During this period, she gained broad experience across medical and surgical ophthalmology at tertiary and district hospitals.
After completing training, Miss Singh undertook advanced sub-specialty fellowships in Glaucoma. She served as Senior Glaucoma Fellow at Birmingham Midland Eye Centre from August 2023 to February 2024, followed by a Glaucoma Fellowship at Leeds Teaching Hospitals from March 2024 to September 2024. In September 2024, she was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist and Glaucoma Specialist at County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust.
Miss Singh has a strong interest in innovation, service development and leadership in healthcare. In 2025, she formulated and led a successful business case for Glaucoma Microshunt Surgery in Darlington. She also initiated and organised Regional Glaucoma Grand Rounds for the Northern Deanery and designed simulation training programmes in cataract and glaucoma for ophthalmology trainees. She has also completed formal leadership and management training.
Miss Singh has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at national and regional conferences. Her publications include ophthalmic case reports and inter-disciplinary medical research. She presented at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Congress in 2021 on the effect of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty on intraocular pressure. She has also presented research on optic neuritis, diabetic macular oedema and complex neuro-ophthalmic cases.
