Dr Shirjeel Chaudhry is a Consultant Anaesthetist and Pain Management Specialist working at Meriden Hospital in Coventry, with over 17 years of clinical experience across the United Kingdom and internationally. He holds dual Fellowship qualifications from the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) and the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FFPMRCA) and is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) as a specialist in Pain Medicine. He works across both NHS and private practice, consistently delivering high standards of care in every clinical setting.
For patients living with chronic or complex pain, his consultations are known for offering something that is often hard to find: time, clarity, and a genuine commitment to finding the right way forward. Dr Chaudhry takes a holistic approach, focusing not only on the physical source of pain but also on how it affects daily life, work, sleep, and independence. Every patient is treated as an individual, with tailored care plans designed around their specific needs rather than a standard template.
He qualified with an MBBS in 2008 and completed his initial specialist training in Pakistan before relocating to the United Kingdom. He then undertook five years of higher specialist training through the Warwickshire School of Anaesthesia, achieving a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Anaesthesia and Chronic Pain. His internationally diverse training has given him a broad clinical perspective and advanced procedural expertise, which he continues to build on throughout his career. Dr Chaudhry is strongly committed to shared decision-making. Patients can expect clear explanations of their diagnosis, honest discussions about all treatment options, and a careful, measured approach that avoids unnecessary procedures. Where appropriate, he prioritises conservative and minimally invasive treatments, reserving advanced interventions only when supported by strong clinical evidence.
He is highly experienced in a wide range of pain management procedures, including lumbar medial branch blocks, radiofrequency denervation, sacroiliac joint injections, epidural and nerve root injections, pulsed radiofrequency treatments, occipital nerve procedures, hip joint denervation, genicular nerve blocks for knee pain, and trigger point injections. He regularly provides second opinions for patients who have not found lasting relief from previous treatments.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Chaudhry is actively involved in medical education. He serves as a Faculty Tutor for Chronic Pain trainees under the Royal College of Anaesthetists, contributing to training, supervision, and curriculum development. He also teaches on Royal College-approved ultrasound courses, helping to train the next generation of clinicians.
He has presented his research at European conferences and remains engaged in academic work focused on improving and advancing clinical practice. His approach is evidence-based, up to date, and continuously evolving.
Fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu, Dr Chaudhry is able to communicate clearly with patients from a wide range of backgrounds, ensuring consultations are comfortable, accessible, and fully understood.
