Personal Profile

Mr Shery Thomas carried out his higher specialist training in Ophthalmology at the University Hospitals of Leicester. Prior to this, he worked at the Prince Charles Eye Unit, Windsor. He completed further advanced sub-specialty training fellowships in Strabismus, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Neuro-ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, Birmingham.

He serves as section editor (paediatric Ophthalmology) for the Journal ‘EYE’ published by the of Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Other Achievements:

Mr Thomas’s research work on eye movement disorders at the University of Leicester led to the discovery of the gene FRMD7, mutations in which cause inherited nystagmus. (Nature Genetics 38, 1242 - 1244 (2006).
