About Dr Shafick Gareeboo
Personal Profile
Dr Shafick Gareeboo moved to London, after having qualifying from the University of Aberdeen in 1997, where he continued his medical training. He spent a year at the Royal Free and Royal Brompton Hospital carrying out research into the genetics of sarcoidosis. He completed his higher training in respiratory and internal medicine working in North-West London including Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust.
He obtained an MSc in respiratory medicine from Imperial College and has a number of peer-reviewed publications. Dr Gareeboo worked as a Locum Respiratory Consultant at East and North Herts NHS Trust where he developed a respiratory high dependency unit. He moved to work at Ealing Hospital where he led the tuberculosis service.
Dr Gareeboo was appointed as a Substantive Respiratory Consultant at South London Healthcare NHS Trust in 2011. He now leads the lung cancer service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He is also the Vice Chair of the South-East London Lung Cancer Tumour Working Group.
