About Ms Shadaba Ahmed

Personal Profile

Ms Ahmed graduated in 1984 from Dow Medical College. She trained in London in the North West rotation. This involved a rotation through all the major teaching hospitals in North West London such as UCLH, Royal Free, Barts, RNTNE. She initially trained in head & neck cancer surgery; thereafter in Otology and salivary gland surgery. Ms Ahmed is now a full-time ENT Consultant in the Morecambe Bay Trust and has worked with them for about 18 years. She performs all the Otology/mastoid surgery, and endoscopic ear surgery. Ms Ahmed is a Council Member of the British Society of Otology, a society that is the beacon for all ENT surgeons.

 Ms Ahmed is the only ENT Surgeon at Morecambe Bay Trust undertaking salivary gland surgery, particularly of the parotid gland. She has also trained in sialendoscopy which is an endoscopic; organ preservation approach to salivary gland pathology. Her interests include voice, sleep apnoea and benign head and neck surgery.

Ms Ahmed is deeply involved in education, teaching and training both at Lancaster University and within the Trust. For nine years she organised and delivered a free of cost; ENT Study Day with 6 CPD points for primary and secondary care. She is Honorary Lecturer and Honorary Teacher at University of Lancaster and University of Liverpool and has recently published a book for final year medical students. In addition, Ms Ahmed has published more than 50 papers and presents regularly in National and International meetings.

Ms Ahmed is Editor of the Morecambe Bay Journal and member of the local negotiating committee LNC of the BMA for Morecambe Bay Trust. She is also currently President of the Lancaster and Morecambe Medical Book Society.
