Minimal invasive (keyhole) and general spinal surgery Mr Joshi trained in minimally invasive techniques at several centres in the USA and Europe. He has interests in bone cement injections in osteoporotic and tumour related spine fractures for pain relief and immediate mobilisation. He is also interested in (keyhole) percutanous procedures for spinal surgery to facilitate rapid recovery and early return to normal daily functions by preserving normal anatomy and reducing post-operative pain. He has been involved in artificial disc replacement in spinal surgery to maintain motion and minimise adjacent discs degeneration.
Minimally invasive and endoscopic cranial surgery Mr Joshi has interests in intraoperative neuro-navigation, awake craniotomies and endoscopic cranial surgery.
Multidisciplinary approaches for tumours, pain, and spinal pathologies Mr Joshi works in close collaboration with neuro-oncologist, pain anaesthetists and interventional neuro-radiologists with regards to surgical management of these conditions.
His dedication to the improvement of patients with spinal conditions is evidenced by his commitment to teaching and research and his enthusiasm for less invasive surgery. He is involved in teaching medical undergraduates at Warwick University and has published and presented both nationally and internationally on brain tumours, spine pathologies, minimally invasive cranial and spine surgery, head injury and spine trauma. He has performed landmark clinical studies and presentations on endoscopic pituitary surgery, bone cement injections in spine and minimal invasive spinal fusion.
He works in partnership with fellow consultant neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon, Mr Hussein El-Maghraby, at The Meriden Hospital, where they provide a comprehensive neurosurgical practice.
