About Prof Seshadri Sriprasad

Personal Profile

Professor Sriprasad was appointed consultant urologist in 2005.  He was trained in the South London rotation and he also obtained two fellowships both in Endourology and laparoscopy. He was awarded the Markowitz prize for best trainee from UCL.

He established the Stone Centre at the Darent Valley Hospital and the award winning Poplar Urology unit. The Stone Centre has state-of -the art facilities and well known  nationally and attracts tertiary referral. He was appointed Professor of Urology at Canterbury Christ Church University and he heads the MCh (Urology) programme. Prof. Sriprasad has trained a large number of  surgeons in Endourology. He is passionate to teach and train and is an invited speaker to many national and international urology meetings.

He has published more than 80 peer reviewed papers, 150 published abstracts and has written several text book chapters. He is the associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Urology and is on the editorial board of many urology Journals. He is also active in clinical and translational research. He was the Chairman of the Hospital R&D for 10 years.

He has been the Clinical Director for Urology and Nephrology and currently is the Clinical Director for the Surgical care Group.

He is elected to the BAUS  (British Association of Urological Surgeons) council from the South East Coast and is a member for the Urology SAC (Specialist Accreditation Committee). He served as Secretary for the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) – urology section and the NICE panel.

Recently he is elected as Vice Chair of BAUS Endourology Section. His services were recognised by the NHS and was given the Silver Award for clinical excellence.
