About Ms Selina Saunders

Personal Profile

Selina Saunders qualified from The University of Birmingham in 2004 and worked for 15 years across Southampton and Portsmouth predominantly in the musculoskeletal field. She has been working at Winterbourne Hospital since 2019 as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist. 

Selina has been a Clinical Specialist in Spines for the last 10+ years and runs the Spinal Assessment Service alongside Andrew Hilton (Spinal Consultant) at Winterbourne Hospital. She also runs the Musculoskeletal Assessment Service alongside a variety of the Orthopaedic Consultants with the purpose of this being to assess, diagnose and appropriately manage upper and lower limb pain/injuries/conditions. These services consist of Selina carrying out a thorough subjective and objective clinical assessment. She will take a history of your complaint, past medical history and management thus far, review any previous relevant imaging if available and carry out a thorough physical examination. Following this initial assessment if indicated Selina can organise appropriate investigations/diagnostics, liaise with a specialist Consultant and then work with you to help best manage your condition. This may consist of Physiotherapy or onward referral to a surgeon or other specialist such as Pain Management, Rheumatology etc... if indicated.

Selina enjoys treating all musculoskeletal and post-op conditions as well as running the MSK Triage/Assessment service. She has a special interest in Shockwave Therapy used in the management of conditions such as plantar fascitis, achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow etc. Selina has lots of experience in sports injury/prevention ranging from the basics to higher-level rehabilitation as well as in dealing with long-term conditions such as anterior knee pain, shoulder impingement and biomechanical issues to name a few.
