About Dr Sayam Dubash

Personal Profile

Dr Sayam Dubash is a Consultant Rheumatologist with extensive experience in Rheumatology which includes musculoskeletal and autoimmune problems. He works for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where he manages all general rheumatology conditions and leads specialist clinics in psoriatic arthritis, spondyloarthritis and connective tissue diseases. He is skilled in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound and nail fold video capillaroscopy used for the diagnosis and management of inflammatory diseases. He has received prizes and awards for his clinical care, teaching and research. Above all, he understands patients’ individualised needs and is passionate about delivering the highest quality of care. 

Having qualified in medicine at the University of Bristol in 2004, he has over two decades of experience and keeps up-to-date with the latest developments in his field. He developed an interest in a group of diseases called the spondyloarthritides at the world renown LIRMM centre of excellence, where he completed an additional research doctorate (MD) in clinical and translational research. He published his thesis on exploring pathogenesis and treatment response in different disease phenotypes in spondyloarthritis. 

Dr Dubash and colleagues received the NASS patient choice award at the Palace of Westminster, Houses of Parliament for the best team nationally for care of patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis as nominated by patients. 

He also leads a research team and established a “rheumatology clinical trials satellite site” to bring research to the community. His initiative won the prize for highly commended research innovation awarded by Trust CEO. 

Dr Dubash holds additional teaching qualifications in medical education (PGCert Med Ed) and regularly teaches students and doctors with excellent feedback. He is principal investigator for several rheumatology clinical trials including Sjögren’s, psoriatic arthritis and spondyloarthritis.

He has given talks at international conferences such as the American College of Rheumatology, and has published clinical and translational research in high-impact Rheumatology journals for which he is also a peer reviewer.
