Dr Sanghera is a GP who specialises in Lifestyle Medicine and Health & Life Coaching. She is one of only a very few currently practicing all three in the North East. At Woodlands Hospital, she offers treatment to self-funding and privately insured patients.
Dr Satinder Sanghera is also a highly-experienced NHS GP and previous clinical leader. In addition, she’s a lifestyle medicine doctor, and transformational health coach who helps professionals reclaim their lives. Using an evidence-led, whole-health approach, she moves beyond surface symptoms to help people understand what is really going on and find a practical way forward.
Her whole-health approach:
Dr Satinder works with competent professionals who feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck; people privately depleted behind a façade of outward success. Her clients are navigating:
She offers comprehensive, evidence-led, whole-health support. Integrated into this is over 30 years of NHS GP practice, lifestyle and longevity medicine, menopause-informed care, and transformational health coaching. Her programme of sessions begins with a detailed lifestyle questionnaire to understand a person's full life course and then cuts beneath presenting symptoms to address the fear, disconnection, and loss of self that lie at the root of dis-ease.
Where appropriate, she supplements this with interpretation of blood markers and DNA and dynamic epigenetic saliva tests. This provides an additional layer of personalised, science backed insight.
Her work is practical and goal-oriented and she pairs rigorous medical insight (including detailed questionnaires, clinical testing, and where relevant, blood and epigenetic marker interpretation), with transformational coaching tools to build sustainable momentum. She fundamentally believes people are always more than their diagnosis.
Clients trust Dr Sanghera because she holds immense clinical authority without reducing them to a label. She is non-judgmental, grounded in real adversity, and offers a safe, steady space where complexity is genuinely understood and a practical way forward is found.
"She treats the person, not just the symptom."
Dr Sanghera understands how hard change can be because she has lived it. She navigates life with physical disability and several long-term health conditions. Despite this, she has consistently defied the odds and confounded medical opinion. Even after suffering a stroke at the age of 20, she went on to win multiple academic awards.
Her approach is grounded in positive lifestyle change and the principles of positive psychology. Both have shaped both her body and her mind, and led to a life that is rich, adventurous and deeply meaningful as a doctor, mother, wife, smallholder, sailor, and much more.
Dr Sanghera has lived and worked in County Durham for nearly 40 years. As a former GP Partner in Weardale, she also served as Chair for Durham Dales and Clinical Lead for the wider locality. During this time, she developed a number of patient-centred services.
She founded serenitysth.org, a registered charity serving the local community, and was recognised for this work with the 'Inspirational Person of the Year' award at the Teesdale Volunteer Awards in 2018. During the pandemic, she offered free lifestyle medicine advice to NHS workers. Her charity has since expanded to include 'nature connectedness' sessions, underpinned by further evidence-based training.
She is a trustee of the national charity, 'Different Strokes', a professional speaker, and has appeared on television, podcasts and in local media across four decades.
