Kidney problems are often detected after routine blood and urine tests. Other symptoms include high blood pressure, swelling of the legs and tiredness. During your consultation with Dr Shah, she will take a detailed history of your symptoms and the impact on you. She may arrange further blood and urine tests along with an ultrasound scan. Occasionally a CT or MRI scan is also needed. If a kidney biopsy is needed, She can organise this after discussing the risks and benefits with you.

She will then explain the underlying cause of your symptoms and kidney problems before advising on how best to manage the condition. Management of kidney diseases often include lifestyle changes as well as medication. Your treatment will be individualised and tailored to your needs.

If you have already been diagnosed with kidney disease, Dr Shah can provide further assessment and a second opinion.

If you are being considered for kidney transplantation, Dr Shah can offer further education on transplantation and how to keep yourself in the best physical and mental state to undergo transplantation.

Kidney doctors (nephrologists) and urologists often work closely together to manage conditions such as kidney stones. Dr Shah will liaise with the urology consultants as needs to ensure that your care is optimised.

During follow up appointments, an assessment of symptoms along with blood and urine tests to monitor your kidney function will be taken. Dr Shah will review your medication and advise on any changes needed.
