Personal Profile

With over 15 yeas of dedicated experience, Dr Sandeep Bawa brings both warmth and expertise to his role as a Consultant Rheumatologist. He is a proud graduate from the University of Edinburgh (1997), with specialist training in both Rheumatology and General Medicine from Oxford. He has been a Consultant Rheumatologist at Gartnavel General Hospital since 2008.

Dr Bawa has earned accolades like “Medical Professional of the Year" (twice!)  and serves as an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow. He has also been on the board of examiners for the RCP MRCP Specialist Question Writing Group. Sandeep has a specialist interest in Sports Medicine, having completed his Masters at University College London. He was the Medical Team Leader at the London Olympic Games and Athletes' Village Doctor at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.

He has broad clinical experience in all areas of Rheumatology, from arthritis through to connective tissue disease and all forms of musculoskeletal pain – gout, polymyalgia, back pain. He has presented at both national and international conferences, and has many publications in peer reviewed journals and has been a co-author in internationally renowned medical textbooks.

Using a multidisciplinary approach, evidenced-based medicine, and the latest diagnostic techniques, he believes in delivering the highest standards of personalised patient care.
