Personal Profile

Mr Samuel Ford is a highly experienced Consultant Surgeon. His main private practice is based at Droitwich Spa Hospital and Priory Hospital Birmingham. He also holds a full-time NHS Consultant post at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he specialises in general surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, and sarcoma surgery.

He completed his specialist training in general and upper gastrointestinal surgery in the South West of England in 2014. He then undertook advanced fellowship training in sarcoma surgery in both Birmingham and Milan, gaining specialist expertise in complex cancer surgery and multidisciplinary cancer care.

Following his clinical training, Mr Ford was awarded a PhD in cancer biology from the University of Birmingham. This followed a three-year role as a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellow. His research has focused on improving outcomes for patients with soft tissue sarcoma, and he has contributed to international treatment guidelines as well as numerous peer-reviewed publications in sarcoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumour management.

Alongside his clinical and academic work, Mr Ford is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and is actively involved in teaching and training the next generation of surgeons.

His specialist interests include the diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue sarcoma, neuroendocrine tumours, and gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs). He also has extensive experience in general and benign upper gastrointestinal conditions, including hiatal hernias, acid reflux, gallstones, abdominal wall hernias, and lipomas.

He is committed to providing patient-centred care, using evidence-based treatments and modern surgical techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes. His approach focuses on clear communication, careful assessment, and personalised treatment planning for each patient.
