Mr Cartwright graduated from St Barthlomew’s and The Royal London in 2007. He additionally obtained a BSc in Physiology and Pharmacology at King’s College London.
He undertook his surgical training in the South East region with posts also at Great Ormond Street and Guy’s & St Thomas’. With training in Rhinology and Sinus Surgery. During this time he gained an MSc in Surgical Sciences from University of Edinburgh. He spent time in Auckland post completion of training to gain further clinical experience. This allowed exposure to healthcare delivery in another country with a differing population contrasts in service provision.
He was appointed as a Consultant at Ashford & St Peter’s in 2018 and also operates at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. He has also been Clinical Lead for Ashford & St Peter’s which was held for over 3 years, with the Trust being in the top performing hospitals for ENT during his tenure. This experience was valuable in providing managerial insights and processes in Healthcare. He has worked closely with colleagues and allied staff to create a number of quality improvement projects for the department during and since.
He has a number of publications in a number of Journals ranging in ENT pathology and education. Specifically he has published in clinical techniques and virtual training days during the COVID pandemic. As part of his masters project he compiled a review into the role of Human Papilloma Virus in Head and Neck Cancer with its implications on diagnosis and management. He continues to provide teaching and has lectured at the University of Surrey. He is also responsible to resident doctors and an Educational Supervisor.
He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. His personal interests include rugby, cycling and running.
He is a father with both a son and daughter.
