He joined the Nottingham Higher Surgical Orthopaedic Training Scheme in 1995, attaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 1999.
He was appointed the Shoulder Surgery Fellow to the Reading Shoulder Unit in July 2000 for 1 year and trained in the Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit for 6 months following that. He trained extensively in arthroscopic, reconstructive and joint replacement surgery and management of sports injuries of the knee and shoulder. He was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Arthroscopy Unit at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and University Hospital Birmingham in January 2003.
He teaches basic surgical trainees and higher orthopaedic trainees on the Birmingham Training Scheme, is a reviewer of orthopaedic scientific papers, lectures nationally and internationally on shoulder surgery teaches on advanced arthroscopy courses and is widely published in arthroscopic and open surgery.
