About Mr Samir Nabil Massoud

Personal Profile

Samir Massoud read medicine at Alexandria University Medical School, Egypt 1980-86. After moving to the UK in 1989, he trained in general surgical specialities, attaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1993.

He joined the Nottingham Higher Surgical Orthopaedic Training Scheme in 1995, attaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 1999.

He was appointed the Shoulder Surgery Fellow to the Reading Shoulder Unit in July 2000 for 1 year and trained in the Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit for 6 months following that. He trained extensively in arthroscopic, reconstructive and joint replacement surgery and management of sports injuries of the elbow and shoulder.

He teaches basic surgical trainees and higher orthopaedic trainees on the Birmingham Training Scheme, is a reviewer of orthopaedic scientific papers, lectures nationally and internationally on shoulder surgery.
