Mr Personal Profile

Mr. Sam Taktak is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust with outreach to Tameside & Glossop NHS Foundation Trust and East Cheshire NHS Trust. Born and raised in the local area, Sam graduated from Norwich Medical School with MBBS in 2015, prior to returning to the North West for complete surgical and higher urological training without any gaps.

During this period, Sam also obtained a PGDip with Distinction in Urology from Salford University, as well as a PGCert in Medical Education from Edge Hill University. Sam is a sub-specialist in urinary tract stone disease, managing a metabolic stone clinic, contributing to a multidisciplinary stone meeting, and integral in the incorporation of novel treatments and technology locally including suction access sheaths and minimally invasive techniques such as ESWL.

Sam further offers the full spectrum of diagnostic procedures for all urological cancers as well as all aspects of general urology including benign pelvic & prostate treatment, urinary tract infection management and peno-scrotal disease. Sam is a recognised author of several peer-reviewed publications across the urological spectrum as well as internationally presenting on the burden of urinary tract infections and minimising resistance patterns for better patient outcomes, with an invitation to the Royal Society of Medicine podium accepted.

Sam is also a Royal College of Surgery-accredited faculty for surgical courses, aiding the development of the next generation of surgeons, and keenly involved in examinations through the University of Manchester. Outside of work, Sam is a keen sportsman, with a competitive football background and still following his local team across the country.
