Mr Samuel Raymond Heaton is an exceptional consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, and a sub specialist in the hip and knee. He operates a practice in Bath Clinic and Yeovil NHS.
As a specialist in the hip and knee, Mr Heaton is extensively skilled in the management of hip pain, knee pain, osteoarthritis, fragility fractures and all other hip and knee conditions. He has trained in all aspects of trauma and orthopaedic surgery and ultimately gained expert proficiency in hip replacement, knee replacement and revision surgery. He is also an expert in applying keyhole (minimally invasive) techniques to young adult hip and knee surgery.
Clinical research is another aspect of Mr Heaton's medical career. He has published many papers in renowned peer-reviewed journals as well as presenting his work at national and international meetings and conferences. He also participates in the teaching of trainee surgeons on local and national courses.
After qualifying from King's College London in 2005, Sam went through his orthopaedic training at the Royal London Hospital rotation, which included time at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. During his studies, he also pursued a master's degree in engineering at Cardiff University. Sam has completed a one-year fellowship in arthroplasty and trauma at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia. Following that, he pursued a one-year specialist fellowship in hip surgery at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, where he gained extensive experience in all facets of hip surgery. He has also spent time at R. Cowley Shock Trauma Hospital in Baltimore, USA, where he specialised in major trauma.
