About Dr Salil Karkhanis

Personal Profile

Dr Karkhanis completed his general radiology training in 2013. Following this he trained further as an intervention radiologist for 2 years. He acquired skills in basic and advanced techniques in intervention radiology, with a special focus on hepato-biliary interventions. 

He joined as a Consultant Intervention Radiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2016. His special interests are in hepatobiliary and neuroendocrine disease. Towards the same, he performs both, imaging investigations and a range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions such as percutaneous biopsies and drainages, as well as complex interventions like transarterial embolisations and percutaneous thermal ablations. 

With a keen eye for research, Dr Karkhanis has published on various intervention radiology topics. He has a personal interest in teaching and has been a faculty on many courses for the fellowship exam and intervention radiology.
