About Dr Sal Matti

Personal Profile

After completing a specialist training in respiratory medicine in Oxford and Southampton deaneries, Dr Matti was appointed as a consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine in 2003. Over the years, Dr Matti has developed several innovative services in respiratory medicine at Hampshire Hospital Foundation Trust, and he was the clinical lead of the respiratory department for many years.

Dr Matti has a particular interest in COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, cough, interstitial lung disease/pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, pulmonary nodule management, and lung cancer. His asthma research led to an award of Doctor of Medicine from Southampton University.

Dr Matti has published and presented numerous papers at the national and international levels. He is a member of the British Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society and the Royal College of Physicians. He is involved in the respiratory training and the education programme in the Wessex deanery. Dr Matti is a recognised trainer and examiner for postgraduate Doctors.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys watching cricket test matches, international rugby and the Premier League and is a great fan of Liverpool football club. He also enjoys cooking, gardening, travelling, and listening to Jazz.
