About Mr Ross Elledge

Personal Profile

Mr Elledge is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer based in Birmingham.

Mr Elledge graduated in dentistry with distinction at the University of Malta in 2003, finishing first in his year. Following a few years working for the state health service in Malta, he relocated to the United Kingdom in 2005, initially working in paediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Following junior posts in Maxillofacial Surgery in the West of Scotland, he completed the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2006.

In 2007, Mr Elledge started an accelerated medical degree at the University of Birmingham, completing this in 2010 with distinction, coming first in his year and being awarded the Sir Arthur Thomson Gold Medal and the Chancellor's Prize, awarded annually for outstanding achievement and contributions to the general life of the University.

Junior doctor jobs followed around the West Midlands, including core surgical training in Plastic Surgery and completion of the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons exams in 2012. He was then granted a place on a higher surgical training programme in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the West Midlands, training in the whole remit of the specialty and successfully completing his exit Fellowship exams in 2017, as well as gaining a Masters in Medical Education with distinction from the acclaimed programme at the Centre for Medical Education, University of Dundee.

Mr Elledge rounded off his training with two nationally awarded Training Interface Group (TIG) Fellowships in Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery and the Management of Skin Cancer in Nottingham and Leeds respectively in 2018, prior to taking up the post of Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

Clinical Interests

Mr Elledge has subspecialty interests in skin cancer and the management of temporomandibular disorders. He is a member of the Local Skin Cancer MultiDisciplinary Team (LSMDT) at Solihull Hospital where his clear margin rates for non-melanoma skin cancer exceed 98% with high patient satisfaction scores on reconstructive outcomes. He provides the full remit of treatments for temporomandibular disorders including arthroscopy and is among a handful of surgeons nationwide able to provide total joint replacement of the temporomandibular joint.
