Dr Riyaz Shah qualified from Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals in 1994 and obtained MRCP in 1997. He was awarded a Clinical Research Fellowship with The Imperial Cancer Research Fund (Hammersmith Hospital) and obtained a PhD from Imperial College researching in the field of gene transcription and cancer.
He completed training in medical oncology at The Royal Marsden Hospital and was awarded an ASCO Foundation Merit Award in 2005 before being appointed Consultant Medical Oncologist in 2006.
He specialises in the treatment of thoracic cancers. Dr Shah works within several multidisciplinary teams and ensures all private patients benefit from specialist discussions within these groups (including surgeons, radiotherapy and other chest specialists.
He is an active clinical researcher and acts as principal investigator on a range of clinical trials including phase II/III clinical trials of novel agents.
He has leadership roles in The British Thoracic Oncology Group and acts as a clinical advisor to the EGFR+ and ALK+ patient support groups.
