His training has taken him to a variety of places across the breadth of the United Kingdom. He has worked in prestigious institutions such as the Oxford Radcliffe Trust and undertook basic surgical training in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and its associated hospitals. He even had the pleasure of experiencing life as a rural surgical trainee in the Outer Hebrides! Having successfully obtained a national training number in ENT surgery, Yorkshire came calling! During this period, he had a fantastic experience working in various institutions with consultants of great experience, but of course, learning from patients as well. He is passionate about research and gained an MD in head and neck cancer through the Universities of Hull and York. However, he considers himself someone who wishes to keep abreast of all subspecialties and subsequently had completed his otology fellowship at Nottingham University Hospitals.
He clearly made an impression on the unit as he was thereafter successfully employed as a consultant ENT surgeon. Currently he is into the seventh year of consultancy and has undertaken a variety of roles in the department, which include having been the audit and clinical governance leads. He is now in the privileged position of having been the head of the ENT department at Queen's Medical Centre for over two years.
While an enthusiastic teacher of medical students from the University of Nottingham, he advocates for students and clinicians to experience observerships in the ENT tertiary unit he looks after. He wishes to ensure that he with colleagues can produce the next generation of ENT surgeons being of the finest calibre.
Rishi is passionate about care that is delivered to the patients he looks after, whether this be on an elective basis or an emergency. A strong believer in patient safety, he delivers the best up-to-date and evidence-based care possible for all patients. In terms of his NHS clinical practice, he sees patients from all ENT subspecialties, which includes children and adults with problems of the ears, nose, and throat.
While I see patients from all ENT sub-specialties, my interests include the following:
The Park Hospital, Sherwood Lodge Drive, Burntstump Country Park Arnold, Nottingham, NG5 8RX
