Consultant Dermatologist and Senior Clinician for Barts and The London NHS Trust since April 1991. Prof Cerio is the UK’s only Professor of Dermatopathology at the Institute of Cellular Molecular Science (School of Medicine and Dentistry) Queen Mary’s University of London. Prof Cerio also continues to teach undergraduates and provide post-graduate teaching on dermatological and dermatopathological topics locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
His contributions to medical literature include more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, five books and 12 chapters including "Skin Histopathology" in the 6th and 7th editions of the "ROOK" book. He has made major contributions to the recently published World Health Organisation classification on skin tumours. For nearly 20 years, he has contributed to national and international dermatology and dermatopathology meetings. Recently, he has both organised meetings and been asked to be an invited speaker.
He is examiner for the University of London, the Royal College of Pathologists and the UEMS International Committee of Dermatopathology. He was past President of the British Society for Dermatopathology, founder member and for five years President of the European Society for Dermatopathology.
