His senior surgical training was completed in the South West of England, and then as a Clinical Fellow in South Australia, working with Professors David Watson and Glynn Jamieson; both recognised world leaders in laparoscopic surgery.
Richard's training in advanced laparoscopic surgery includes antireflux and hiatus hernia repair, complex gallbladder and bile duct surgery, laparoscopic surgery, simple and complex hernia repair using minimally invasive or open techniques. In 1992 he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was awarded an MD at Manchester University in 1999 and entered the Specialist Register in 2000. He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon at the RUH in 2002.
Mr Richard Krysztopik is a specialist UGI Surgeon at the RUH. He is Lead Clinician for Upper GI Cancer at the RUH and part of the UGI surgical team at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, performing major resections for oesophageal and gastric cancer.
Richard is passionate about delivering the best that modern surgery can provide and gives time to his patients to fully listen to their concerns and fully explain any procedures that they require.
Please note that Mr Krysztopik does not see patients for gastro bands.
