Personal Profile

Dr Jones graduated from medical school in 1997, and completed both his general and specialist training in Yorkshire. Toward the end of his training he completed a PhD at Manchester University focusing on nutrition and appetite control, when he published and presented research at both national and international conferences. In addition to Dr Jones' private practice, he has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Wythenshawe Hospital (now Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, MFT) since 2010, and has extensive experience in clinical leadership in roles such as Clinical Director for Specialist Medicine at Wythenshawe Hospital and Clinical Director Gastroenterology across MFT. Dr Jones has extensive experience in training of both medical students and junior doctors and has held an Honorary Senior Lectureship for teaching at the University of Manchester. Having specialised in gastroenterology for the last 20 years Dr Jones' has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the speciality, with particular expertise and interest in IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and clinical nutrition. At Wythenshawe Hospital he instigated the hospital’s Nutrition Support Team, runs a specialist Inflammatory Bowel Disease clinic and carries out advanced therapeutic endoscopy. Dr Jones is accredited as a National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme endoscopist. Outside of work, Dr Jones has a busy family life. He is married to a GP, has 3 children and an energetic dog. As well as spending time with his family he enjoys swimming, playing tennis and sailing. Dr Jones is passionate about his work and always aims to provide safe, efficient and thorough care to all his patients..
