Mr Richard Heasley is a Consultant Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgeon who specialises in surgery of the shoulder, including arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, and shoulder replacement surgery.
He has a full-time NHS practice at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, and undertakes private practice at The Highfield Hospital in Rochdale. He treats patients with a broad range of shoulder and upper limb problems, including impingement syndrome, rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability (dislocation), shoulder arthritis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow, as well as traumatic conditions of the shoulder and elbow.
Between 2013 and 2019, Mr Heasley worked as an Orthopaedic Consultant at Pennine Acute NHS Trust. Between 2017 and 2019, he acted as Clinical Director of Elective Orthopaedic Surgery. He has a keen interest in patient safety, audit and research, having previously held the roles of Clinical Governance Lead and Clinical Audit Lead for the orthopaedic department between 2013 and 2016.
In August 2019, he moved to Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Heasley is actively involved in teaching and training, including supervising medical students and junior doctors. He is involved in the regional training programme for Specialist Registrars, and teaches on courses for those registrars approaching their final examinations.
