Personal Profile

Richard Hampton qualified from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School in 1988. After basic surgical training on the Northwick Park Hospital Surgical Rotation he undertook higher surgical training on the St Mary’s Hospital Orthopaedic Rotation working at St Mary’s Wexham Park, Royal Berkshire, Northwick Park, Chelsea and Westminster and Kingston Hospitals. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Kingston Hospital Trust in 2002 and has worked at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre (EOC) in Epsom, Surrey since it opened in 2004.

Richard’s particular interest and expertise is in hip replacement surgery (including complex primary and revision procedures) and knee replacement surgery. He can advise and treat most conditions related to the hip and knee including arthritis, fractures, tendinopathies, bursitis, cartilage tears, loose bodies, impingement and painful hip replacements.

Richard is involved in the trauma management at Kingston Hospital managing isolated upper and lower limb injuries and also has a regular day case operating list where most of the workload is knee arthroscopy and metalwork removal.

Richard has worked in private practice at New Victoria Hospital, situated between Kingston-upon-Thames and Raynes Park, since 2003, with his practice mirroring his NHS practice at Kingston Hospital and EOC. He has regular outpatient clinics and operating lists.

For the last decade, Richard’s private practice has also featured weekly outpatient clinics at The Syon Clinic near Brentford, Middlesex.
