About Dr Richard Francis

Personal Profile

Dr Francis completed his medical training at Imperial College London in 2011. He subsequently completed his foundation training before going into his core medical training. During this period Dr Francis also worked in New Zealand and completed a fellowship in South Africa, as well as placements at Rehabilitation Hospitals in London. During this time he completed his Royal College of Physician membership exams in 2016.

Dr Francis completed his Specialist Training in Rehabilitation Medicine in 2022. His training encompassed Neuro-Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation and Amputee Rehabilitation, and was especially broad-based including training in hospitals throughout London. During this time he successfully passed the examination to become a Fellow of the European Board of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine, helping improve his management of musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr Francis is well-versed with managing patients who have suffered acquired brain injuries, including stroke and traumatic brain injury.

Dr Francis liaises with and leads a multi-disciplinary team consisting of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and rehabilitation assistants.

Dr Francis is an excellent communicator with patients and their families, helping to set minds at ease while offering helpful and practical advice and management plans.

His work has been presented at the British Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. He has also presented at the Society for Research into Rehabilitation where he is an Associate Member.
