Dr Riat is an experienced Consultant Haematologist specialising in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of blood disorders, with a particular interest in haemostasis, thrombosis, and anticoagulation.
She completed her medical training at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medical Education, where she also achieved a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Neuroscience with Basic Medical Sciences.
Following her medical training, Dr Riat completed specialist haematology training through the North Central London training programme in 2012. During this time, she gained extensive clinical experience at leading hospitals including University College London Hospital, Royal Free Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Dr Riat is currently a Consultant Haematologist at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, where she is the Lead for Haemostasis and Thrombosis and the Anticoagulation Service.
She also holds a regular clinic within the Haemophilia and Thrombosis Unit at Royal Free Hospital, supporting patients with complex bleeding and clotting conditions.
Dr Riat has a specialist interest in haemostasis and thrombosis, with expertise in managing patients with complex bleeding and clotting disorders.

She provides specialist advice to GPs and hospital teams, including guidance on anticoagulation management before and after surgery, as well as peri-operative transfusion advice.
Dr Riat also contributes to the development and review of clinical guidance relating to venous thromboembolism (VTE) and anticoagulation.
Dr Riat works closely with specialist teams at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, University College London Hospital, and Royal Free Hospital, allowing access to multidisciplinary expertise when required.
Alongside her clinical work, she is actively involved in teaching and regularly provides education to medical students, junior doctors, and nursing teams across all areas of haematology.
She is committed to maintaining the highest standards of care through continuous professional development and participates in the Royal College of Pathologists CPD scheme.
Dr Riat is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care and has received excellent feedback from both patients and colleagues.
