Dr Ravi Madhotra is a highly experienced and leading Consultant Gastroenterologist in Milton Keynes, serving the populations of three counties for nearly 25 years through his work at the Saxon Clinic and Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH). For two decades, he has led the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Department at MKUH, where he has developed and sustained a high quality endoscopy service offering an extensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. He also leads the endoscopy service at the Saxon Clinic and serves as the Clinical Director of the Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.

Dr Madhotra treats all gastroenterological conditions, including dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease, gastrointestinal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome, as well as the full spectrum of liver related disorders. Dr Madhotra is an exceptionally experienced endoscopist, having performed over 20,000 diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. He is an expert at colonoscopy and polyp removal, gastroscopy and ERCPs. He is the only clinician providing Capsule endoscopy service for small bowel conditions.

A specialist therapeutic endoscopist and accredited colonoscopist for bowel cancer screening, Dr Madhotra brings deep clinical expertise and advanced technical skill to the care of his patients. In addition to completing his specialist gastroenterology training in the UK, he undertook a prestigious one year Advanced Gastroenterology Fellowship at the internationally renowned Digestive Disease Center, Medical University of South Carolina, USA, under the mentorship of Dr Peter Cotton. He further completed a visiting fellowship at the National Cancer Centre, Tokyo, one of the world’s leading endoscopy units, where he trained in advanced techniques for removing large colonic polyps and early cancers endoscopically. This international training has directly improved outcomes and transformed the lives of many patients in his clinical practice.

Throughout his career, he has been a trainer and mentor to numerous consultant gastroenterologists, consistently delivering high quality training in all his roles. His leadership spans local, regional, and national committees. He sits on the National Bowel Screening Advisory Group and the BLMK Endoscopy Committee. For 10 years, he served as the Oxford Deanery representative to both the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) and the Royal College of Physicians of London. He has been Secretary of the Oxford Gut Club and a member of the BSG Clinical Standards and Services Committee. Locally, he has held senior leadership roles including Clinical Director, Divisional Director for Medicine, and Chair of the MKUH Consultant Committee.

Dr Madhotra has a strong interest in improving patient access and pathway innovation. His pioneering work in developing a Straight to Test pathway for upper gastrointestinal cancer was recognised in a parliamentary debate at Westminster and earned regional, national, and international awards. A committed clinical researcher, his work is regularly presented at major national and international meetings. He has also raised significant funds for various health related charities.

Outside medicine, Dr Madhotra is a keen sportsman who enjoys badminton, table tennis, and cricket. He is widely travelled and takes a particular interest in the socio economic and health systems of the countries he visits.
