Mr Limaye is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Woodlands Hospital with specific interest in the foot and ankle. He sees NHS, self-pay and insured patients.
He works as Lead Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeon at the University Hospital of North Tees and Hartlepool and has been a consultant in both the NHS and private sector for the past 17 years, specialising in foot and ankle surgery.
Mr Limaye has gained extensive orthopaedic surgery experience since 1990, working in various hospitals in both India and the UK. He has gained fellowship level training in Foot and Ankle Surgery in the UK and abroad.
His special interests lie in bunion surgery, arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery to the foot and ankle for sports injuries, realignment osteotomies around the ankle and joint replacements of the big toes. He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented papers and his research in many national and international conferences across the world.
He works very closely with a team of specialists and his clinics are supported by dedicated foot and ankle physiotherapists, podiatrists, radiologists and other doctors. He runs a multi-disciplinary meeting every three months to discuss complex cases, and has been a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society for many years.
He now hosts a nationally-accredited British orthopaedic Association (BOA) Foot and Ankle fellow. He holds the positions of Revalidation Lead and Clinical Audit Lead at the North Tees Hospital and works as an appraiser to junior doctors and colleagues. He has examined final year medical students at Newcastle Medical School, and The University of Teesside recognised his teaching roles and conferred upon him the title of ‘Honorary Clinical Lecturer’ in 2011.
In addition to his clinical appointments, Mr Limaye holds a place in the court of examiners for The Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh. He assists in MRCS and FRCS Orth examinations, both nationally and internationally. He has examined in London, Edinburgh, Egypt, India, Cyprus, UAE, Sri Lanka and Kenya.
