Personal Profile

Dr Raheel Syyed is a Medical graduate of University of Glasgow. Early training occurred in various hospitals in the West of Scotland. He completed his specialist training in the South Thames region in 2008, which included working in various hospitals including Kings College Hospital and St. Thomas’s hospital. He completed his Doctorate in Medicine (M.D)  thesis, ‘Studies of the Pulmonary Circulation in Man: Pressure & Flow relationships’  in 2008 at the University of Glasgow and created the “syyed equation” for mean pulmonary pressure. He became a fellow of the Royal college of surgeons in 2009. Dr Syyed has been a consultant at the University hospital Monklands in NHS Lanarkshire since 2008.

Dr Syyed has extensive clinical experience across a variety of common and uncommon respiratory issues including airway diseases such as asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, pleural diseases, lung cancer and interstitial lung disease.

He is actively involved in teaching and examination of medical students from Glasgow School of Medicine at Glasgow University and is an honorary lecturer for the University of Glasgow. He is also active member of UK PACES examination board.
