About Dr Rachael Kay

Personal Profile

Dr Rachael Kay is an experienced general practitioner, with 22 years of NHS experience. She has specialist areas of interests within Dermatology, Hair Loss, and Women’s Health. She currently works as a GP partner in Yorkshire, and has been a partner there since qualifying from her General Practitioner training scheme in 2009.

Dr Kay qualified from the University of Manchester in 2003, following this she has trained across a broad range of specialities within hospitals in Manchester, Leeds and Sydney Australia before embarking on her chosen specialist training in General Practice. These included General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dermatology and Palliative Care.

Dr Kay’s enthusiastic passion for Dermatology evolved through her general practice work and her own experience, which led her to pursue the Post Graduate the Cardiff Diploma of Dermatology. This enabled her to work as a GP with a specialist interest in Dermatology. From there she developed a keen interest in the field of hair restoration and underwent a 12-month training programme at the well-respected Farjo hair institute in 2014. Dr Kay has subsequently performed countless hair transplant procedures.

She is now board Certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgeons, for which she is also an examiner for the coursework and Viva examinations. She is also a member of the ISHRS Women in Hair Restoration Surgery Task Force and is serving her third term as Secretary of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons.

Previously she has been a columnist for the FORUM, writing up reviews of multiple educational meetings in the field of hair restoration surgery.

In her spare time Dr Kay enjoys live music, theatre trips and adventures with her young family.
