Mr Prad Murthy is a Consultant ENT and Head and Neck Surgeon at North Manchester General Hospital, Manchester Foundation Trust and Northern Care Alliance Foundation Trust. He has undertaken post-graduate training in centres of excellence in both the United Kingdom and United States of America. He has special interest and expertise in head and neck cancer, neck lumps, including thyroid and salivary gland conditions, and sinonasal disorders.

Mr Murthy initially embarked on basic surgical training in Otolaryngology (head and neck) and General Surgery in various teaching hospitals in London. After obtaining his fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons in Otolaryngology, he commenced higher surgical training in Otolaryngology in East Anglia for 2 years. During this time, Mr Murthy received intensive training in all aspects of Otology and Rhinology. He then commenced a training rotation in the North of Scotland, which supplemented his experience in advanced head and neck surgery, including free flap and microvascular reconstruction.

In his final year of training, Mr Murthy undertook a clinical fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Miami, Florida. During this tenure, he obtained extensive clinical experience in the outpatient and surgical treatment of patients with head and neck cancer and neck lumps.

Since his appointment as a Consultant in 1999, Mr Murthy has continued to develop expertise in all aspects of adult and paediatric otolaryngology, with particular interest in cancer surgery, thyroid and salivary gland surgery, and endoscopic sinus surgery.

Mr Murthy is also actively involved in audit, research and teaching of undergraduates, post-graduates and GP's. He is an invited speaker for several national conferences and courses for GP's and ENT trainees and has had 25 peer-reviewed papers published. He has featured in TIME magazine and a medical documentary on the Discovery Health Channel for his involvement in the complex surgical treatment of a patient with a severe blast injury to the face sustained in the Kosovan war.
