About Polia Naydenova

Personal Profile

Dr Naydenova is a Consultant Physician and Geriatrician. She studied medicine in Bulgaria before relocating to Botswana. She worked as a Senior Medical Officer in General Medicine for six years in the largest tertiary referral centre in the capital city of Gaborone. She moved to London where she gained admission to higher medical training in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She trained in North East London rotating through Royal Free Hospital, Basildon Hospital, Queen’s Hospital and Barnet and Chase Farms Hospitals.  

She was appointed as a Consultant at North Middlesex Hospital in 2014. She runs a high-volume and busy Medical and Geriatric service based at North Middlesex Hospital. She covers 24 bedded care of the elderly ward, weekly teleconference with community colleagues from Haringey, hot phone holder providing advice and vetting referrals, Day Hospital sessions, working in Emergency Department and Frailty Unit providing comprehensive assessment of older adults.

Dr Naydenova strives hard to maintain quality and standards of care within her speciality. She keeps up to date with latest scientific research and key issues and challenges in her speciality. Notable achievement include election to Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in September 2018.

Dr Naydenova actively participates in the award-winning Care Home Assessment Team, an integrated physical and mental health service, which has significantly improved the quality of life for care home residents in Enfield. One of the care homes she supports was showcased in the Parliamentary Review 2020 as an example of good practice in the service provided for residents.

Feedback and compliments from family/patients show that she is well respected and trusted, easily approachable, open and has professional manner. She also has excellent feedback from colleagues in primary care and those working in care homes that she supports.

Dr Naydenova continues to be clinical audit lead for her department and ensures that any relevant NICE or national guidance is being followed. She is involved in various training activities for junior doctors and medical students. She is an educational supervisor to trainees and is participating in medical student examinations.

Dr Naydenova provides both outpatient consultation as well as inpatient admission for patients of all ages and she is happy to see patients with a wide variety of medical problems. She has a special interest in Medicine for the Elderly, providing overview of the general health status of older individual focusing on patient’s values and concerns. She is thoroughly committed to her patients.
