About Ms Pip Penn

Personal Profile

Pip qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2001 from Brunel University, London. She has extensive experience in the management of upper limb disorders and has worked within the specialist practice of Hand Therapy in the NHS since 2003.   

Pip’s areas of interest are treating all hand and wrist conditions that are acute, traumatic or chronic. She has expertise in working with surgical teams under Plastic Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics and within Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatients.

As a member of the British Association of Hand Therapists (BAHT), Pip has gained post graduate qualifications in Hand Therapy and is committed to continued professional development and evidence-based care. 

As an advanced practitioner, Pip has worked in the Musculoskeletal Assessment, Triage and Treatment Service (MATS), being responsible for the diagnosis, investigation and onward management of complex MSK hand and wrist conditions. Pip qualified in injection therapy for the upper limb in 2014, providing treatment for conditions such as trigger finger, osteoarthritis, tendinopathies such as de Quervain’s tenosynovitis, and peripheral neuropathies such as carpal tunnel syndrome. 

Pip joined the Ridgeway Hospital physiotherapy team in 2015 as a Clinical Specialist Hand Therapist. She is dedicated in providing patients with timely and effective post-surgical hand and upper limb rehabilitation, using her skills and knowledge to maximise patients’ recovery and return to their chosen activities. Pip is also IR(MER) registered and can forward patients for radiological imaging as part of their Hand Therapy assessment and treatment planning.
