Dr Peter Prouse is a Rheumatologist with extensive experience developed over 30 years as a consultant.  Dr Prouse qualified from the University of Melbourne in 1975. He undertook his postgraduate training at Northwick Park Hospital, London and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick children, developing wide experience in the management of both adults and children with inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases and osteoporosis and completed his MD thesis.  When appointed to the North Hampshire Hospital NHS Trust he developed services for people with inflammatory arthritis, osteoporosis and connective tissue disorders.

His particular interest is the management of inflammatory arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.  DR Prouse has been actively involved in research in this area being a co-founder of the Internationally recognised “Early Rheumatoid Arthritis Study” and has been a Principal and Chief Investigator for many research studies examining the outcomes of treatment with both conventional and biological medications.

Dr Prouse has been a previous Chairperson for Rheumatology in the South Central Region of England, Honorary Secretary of the British Society for Rheumatology and board member of the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance, responsible for the development and publication of “Standards of Care” for patients.  Dr Prouse has also served on NICE appraisal committees.
