Dr Hanna is a Consultant Geriatrician with extensive experience in the care of older adults, specialising in complex medical conditions, frailty, and falls prevention. He has worked as a Consultant Geriatrician since 2016, initially based at Solihull Hospital, where he developed a strong clinical focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care for elderly patients with a wide range of health needs.
In 2022, he joined University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, where he was appointed Clinical Lead for the Care of the Elderly department. In this role, he is responsible for supporting service development, clinical leadership, and the delivery of high standards of care across the department. He continues to hold this position and plays an active role in shaping the direction of geriatric services within the hospital.
Alongside his clinical leadership responsibilities, he has also served since 2023 as Support Training Programme Director for Geriatric Medicine in the West Midlands. In this role, he is involved in supporting the education, supervision, and development of doctors in training, helping to ensure high-quality training standards across the region. He is committed to promoting excellence in geriatric medicine and supporting the next generation of clinicians.
Clinically, he runs a dedicated falls assessment clinic, where he evaluates patients who have experienced falls or are at risk of falling. The clinic focuses on identifying underlying causes, reducing risk factors, and improving patient safety and independence. He also participates in the general internal medicine on-call rota, managing a broad range of acute medical presentations in hospital settings.
His work spans both acute and community-based care, with a strong focus on improving outcomes and quality of life for older adults. He takes a holistic approach to patient care, considering medical, functional, and social needs when developing treatment plans.
In recognition of his clinical expertise and professional experience, he was recently appointed as a medical examiner. In this role, he provides independent scrutiny of deaths, supports accurate certification, and helps ensure transparency and learning within the healthcare system.
He remains dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care and to continuously improving services for older patients across the region.
