About Mr Patrick Li

Personal Profile

Mr Li is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist interest in surgery of the hip. He is a high volume primary hip surgeon and his practice also includes revision hip surgery and complex primary hip replacement in the young adult with complex deformities.

Prior to his appointment at King’s, Mr Li was Senior Registrar at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Norwich, Great Ormond Street and Lecturer at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. On completing his specialist training in 1998, he was awarded the BOA European Travelling Scholarship and the Royal College of Surgeons Norman Capener Travelling Fellowship.

He won the Charles Manning Prize in recognition for his contribution to Orthopaedics. He is a peer reviewer for the Bone & Joint Journal and is the hospital linkman for the BOA. He was previously the NJR/Arthroplasty Lead, Governance Lead and Lead Clinician for the Department of Orthopaedics at King’s.

Research

Mr Li has published and presented widely as Senior Registrar and Lecturer and continues to do so as a consultant. His Research projects in the last 5 years include:

  • He piloted an international NIHR approved study (Celgene) looking at how mutations in the human genome can contribute to diseases such as myocardial infarction, strokes, dementia and haematological malignancies. Mufti G, Marsh J, Reichert ILH, Li PLS et al. March 2020.
