Caaract Surgery
Mr Scollo provides cataract surgery in both an NHS and private healthcare setting. He will take a history of your visual symptoms and requirements and perform a thorough examination to formulate a treatment plan to optimise visual outcomes. He provides standard monofocal intraocular implants (IOLs) and premium lens implants including toric IOLs to address astigmatism, IOLs for an extended depth of focus (EDOF) and multifocal IOLs when aiming to reduce dependence on spectacles.

Having dual fellowship training in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery, Mr Scollo provides a comprehensive range of oculoplastic procedures, including the surgical management of:
Periocular Skin Cancer Management
In his role as an oculoplastic consultant, Mr Scollo manages all forms of periocular skin cancer from assessment and diagnosis to excision and reconstructive surgery. Following removal of periocular skin cancers his aim is to leave as natural as possible an appearance.
Cosmetic Procedures
Watery Eye (Epiphora) Management
Mr Scollo will conduct a thorough assessment to determine the underlying cause of the watering and tailor treatment accordingly. He provides a full spectrum of watery eye management from medical treatments through to tear duct bypass surgery (DCR - dacryocystorhinostomy) including both external and endoscopic DCR surgery.
For all conditions Mr Scollo provides ongoing post‑operative care until recovery is complete.

Professional Background
Mr Paolo Scollo was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the RUH Bath in September 2024.
He studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and has an MSc in Research Methods from the University of Oxford.
Following the completion of an Academic Fellowship at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre, Mr Scollo completed his Ophthalmic Specialty Training in the East of England Deanery.
Mr Scollo then completed two comprehensive fellowships in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery. His subspecialty fellowship training was carried out under the supervision Mr Cornelius René (founder member and former President of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society) and Mr Simon Woodruff at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and Mr Jonathan Norris at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Mr Scollo has additionally worked as a cataract surgeon for the Independent Health Group (IHG) providing cataract surgery for NHS patients in a community setting.
Currently, Mr Scollo has a busy NHS practice at the RUH Bath where he runs a specialist oculoplastic service as well as seeing patients with cataract and general ophthalmic conditions. He has carried out thousands of ophthalmic operations and is known for his kind, respectful temperament and patient-centred approach to care.
He has a keen interest in research, has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and is an active teacher and supervisor of trainee Ophthalmologists.
