About Dr Omar Khan

Personal Profile

Dr Omar Khan is a Consultant Medical Oncologist, based at The Ridgeway Hospital and Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GWH). He specialises in chemotherapy and biological treatments for lung cancer, mesothelioma, ovarian cancer and urological cancers.

He is a member of the lung, urology and gynaecology MDT. He also specialises in acute oncology and works as part of the acute oncology team reviewing oncology inpatients. He is the principal investigator for a number of phase II and phase III oncology clinical trials open at GWH. Omar Khan trained in London and graduated in 1999.

After gaining his membership, he commenced medical oncology training on the North London rotation in 2004. He continued his training in Oxford from 2005. He undertook research at the University of Oxford from 2007-2011 in cancer biomarkers for HDAC inhibitors leading to the award of a DPhil as well as several peer-reviewed publications.

After completion of medical oncology training in Oxford, he has been practising as Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon since April 2013. He specialises in the treatment of lung cancer, mesothelioma, ovarian cancer, renal cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer and acute oncology.
