About Mr Nikhil Pawa

Personal Profile

Mr Nikhil Pawa is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon based at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Following the completion of his primary medical degree, he underwent Basic Surgical Training in Nottingham followed by a research MD focusing on novel screening methods for colorectal cancer. His Higher Surgical Training was undertaken on the prestigious North West London rotation, and included specialist colorectal training at the Royal Marsden Hospital and St Marks Hospital.

Mr Pawa’s special interest lies in the management of bowel cancer, diverticular disease and other colorectal conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), rectal bleeding, haemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal fistula and minimally invasive management of pilonidal disease (EPSIT procedure).

Mr Pawa offers minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci 5 Surgical System at The Clementine Churchill Hospital, the UK’s first private hospital to adopt this advanced robotic-assisted technology. Leveraging enhanced precision, 3D visualisation, and wristed instruments, they deliver improved surgical outcomes, shorter recovery times, and care across his specialties in general and colorectal surgery.

He is also an active member of the research community, with his research primarily focusing on bowel cancer screening among ethnic minorities, and colorectal surgery. He also is also well trained in minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques for the treatment of complex colorectal conditions, and offers his patients endoscopic management of pilonidal sinus treatment, which has been shown to have shorter recovery times and better patient outcomes. He is the lead for a soft tissue diagnostic sarcoma service in his trust, which is linked to the Royal Marsden Hospital.
