About Dr Nik Kamperidis

Personal Profile

Dr Nik Kamperidis is a consultant gastroenterologist and endoscopist. He works at St Mark’s, The National Bowel Hospital and he specialises in the investigation and management of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.  

Dr Kamperidis graduated from the Aristotle University in Greece in 2003. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2010, undertook his specialist training in London, Surrey and Sussex and completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, a centre of clinical excellence. 

Dr Kamperidis completed his postgraduate studies in London and was awarded an MSc degree and an MD (Res) from Barts and the London School of Medicine. His thesis “Nutrient Effects in Inflammatory Bowel Disease” has been presented at national and international conferences.

His research has been published widely in peer-reviewed journals and he has won an award from the United European Gastroenterology Federation for his presentation in Inflammatory Bowel Disease in 2012. 

He remains active in the field of research and participates in Nationwide research projects. His current research focuses on treatment optimisation of novel therapies, the improvement in quality care for patients who suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Conditions and the impact of IBD treatments on immunity against COVID-19. 

His current clinical interests include all aspects of luminal gastroenterological conditions such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and heartburn, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Constipation, Bloating, Chronic Diarrhoea and abdominal pain. He is accredited in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, Bravo Capsule and flexible sigmoidoscopy) and polypectomy. 

His patients always comment on his approachability and thoroughness. “Dr Kamperidis is very calm and easy to talk to. He was very respectful and attentive to everything I was saying. Our consultation took around 30-40 minutes and in the end he still asked if I had any other concerns or questions.”
