Mr Nigel Duncan Mendoza is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the West London Neurosciences Centre at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust and Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Neurosciences at Imperial College.

Following graduation and having undertaken basic surgical training, Mr Mendoza completed a recognised training programme at both registrar and senior registrar grade in Neurosurgery which allowed him to obtain, following examination, the Fellowship in Surgical Neurology conducted by the Intercollegiate Speciality Assessment Board on behalf of the Royal College of Surgeons and the Certificate of Accreditation.

Mr Mendoza was appointed Consultant Neurosurgeon in 1995 at Charing Cross Hospital and has 11 years experience as an NHS Consultant Neurosurgeon working at the West London Neurosciences Unit at Charing Cross Hospital having also been Chief of Service for the previous 5 years. He has continued to consolidate his clinical practice developing specialist areas of surgical interest taking an active part in continuous personal development and medical education. His particular areas of interest include spinal surgery, trigeminal neuralgia, pituitary tumours, acoustic neuroma and skull base surgery and also performs general spinecare services.

Mr Mendoza has gained a wide clinical and operative experience in neurosurgery, both cranial and spinal. This includes the management of common problems caused by degenerative conditions of the spine, such as back pain and symptomatic intervertebral disc protrusion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, as well as more complex spinal surgery for trauma, spinal tumours, and rheumatoid arthritis. Also, surgery of the posterior fossa and skull base for pathology including trigeminal neuralgia, pituitary tumour, acoustic neuromas, meningiomas, glomus tumours and chordoma.

His leisure, when time allows, revolves around his children - encouraging them on the rugby field (whilst still having the occasional game himself!) and playing jazz piano with them in their family band. Mr Mendoza also enjoys skiing and driving classic sports cars having just recently completed a leg of the London to Sydney Friendship Rally from Lahore to Bangkok in a Bentley.
