About Dr Nidhi Singh

Personal Profile

Miss Nidhi Shandil Singh is a highly experienced and approachable Consultant Gynaecologist who has been providing specialist care within the NHS for over twenty years. She has worked as a Consultant Gynaecologist at Milton Keynes University Hospital since 2015 and currently serves as the Clinical Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services. Throughout her career, she has been committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while also contributing to service development, clinical leadership, education, and research.

Miss Singh specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of benign and pre-cancerous gynaecological conditions. Her particular areas of expertise include advanced hysteroscopic diagnosis and treatment, laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, robotic surgery, open gynaecological surgery, vaginal surgery including pelvic floor repair and colposcopy. She is recognised for her expertise in performing hysteroscopic procedures in a single outpatient visit whenever possible, allowing women to receive diagnosis and treatment efficiently while minimising the need for multiple hospital appointments. She has trained several consultants across the region in this technique and has established Milton Keynes University Hospital as a centre of excellence and training for complex out-patient therapeutic (treatment) hysteroscopy procedures.

In addition to her surgical expertise, Miss Singh is a recognised specialist in colposcopy and cervical disease prevention. She serves as the Cervical Screening Provider Lead for the cervical screening service at Milton Keynes University Hospital and plays a key role in ensuring high-quality cervical screening and colposcopy services. She is an active member of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) and has been appointed as a Professional Clinical Advisor in Colposcopy to the East of England Screening and Quality Assurance Service (SQAS), where she supports quality assurance and service improvement across the region.

Miss Singh has a strong commitment to education, training, and professional development. She previously served as a Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) College Tutor, supporting and mentoring specialist trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She remains actively involved in teaching junior doctors, medical students, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, helping to develop the next generation of clinicians.

Alongside her clinical and educational responsibilities, Miss Singh contributes to national research initiatives. She is currently involved in UK-wide research studies focusing on detection of early-stage endometrial cancers and cervical screening, supporting the development of evidence-based practice and improved patient outcomes. Her research interests align closely with her commitment to advancing women's healthcare and improving access to innovative treatment options.

Her leadership, dedication to patient care, and contributions to women's health have been recognised nationally. In July 2023, she was invited to attend a reception for NHS Champions at 10 Downing Street in recognition of her contribution to the NHS.

Patients value Miss Singh's compassionate, approachable, and professional manner. She believes strongly in shared decision-making and works closely with each patient to develop personalised treatment plans that reflect their individual needs, preferences, and long-term health goals. Her combination of clinical expertise, surgical skill, leadership experience, and commitment to education ensures that patients receive the highest standard of gynaecological care.
